SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS (Quick note to Jan Job Fair readers. I need to update this summary to reflect my renewed interest in, and experience with electronics. I was surprised by the number of opportunities in electronics compared to software there are in this area, and pleasantly surprised by the number of positive reactions I got when I asked about my own chances of working in electronics again. It has been 15 years! But I do love and miss test equipment... I even have my own oscope at home. It would be ideal if I could mix software and electronics, but I'd settle to start with just electronics. Please keep in mind that, altho I might sound fickle right now with respect to career choice, I am a hard and loyal worker... once I'm hired, I stay and progress for years.) I have many levels of experience, including 7 years at Symantec, and 4 years at CMR Publishing. This includes being the most senior tech at the Time Line (project management software) Technical Support department for Symantec for my last 4 years there, and performing more multi-faceted duties managing all technical activities at CMR Publishing. While working for Symantec, I helped my department grow from three technicians to twelve. I trained and mentored all of them, and helped hire and supervise some of them. I designed, implemented, maintained, and eventually passed on (to others) the problems/solutions tracking database, BBS support system, autofax support system, and user application notes. I was the primary resource for solving the most difficult problems, including those involving printers, plotters, pc configurations, software compatibility issues, bug fix tests, update distribution issues, difficult or distressed customers, and so on. I trained corporate customers out in the field, wrote writeups and summaries for engineering, marketing, and management, and trained the entire, new Time Line Technical Support staff in Eugene, Oregon. I wrote two user manual appendices for Time Line Version 6. I have excellent references available that cover my history at Symantec. At CMR, I was solely responsible for: setting up and maintaining the NT network, Windows workstations, and shared resources (including internet connectivity); technical support for CMR’s line of project management software, and quality assurance for the next release; special technical analysis of planned vs. as-built project schedules for clients using FoxPro, Excel, Primavera Project Planner, SureTrak, and various in-house proprietary software. Officially I am not a programmer, but have still (on my own initiative) debugged, designed & implemented software bug fixes for, and recompiled/re-distributed CMR’s FoxPro-based project management software. As of September 1, my (and my fellow employees) employment status changed from full time to “independent contractor” because of a general work slowdown at CMR. (Hence my private company name ACME HiTech.) Even if work were to pick up again at CMR, I *would not* want to return to CMR as an employee. I am a loyal and hard worker, and my hopes are high that I might work as a full time employee for a great company. To contact me, please call 707/792-2141 (or fax 707/792-9149).
