Custom Column Names

If desired, it is possible to change the name of any data column by entering the new name into the 'Custom Title' area of this form. Important note: changing the name of the data column in the spreadsheet DOES NOT modify the actual purpose or function of that column! In other words, you can rename a data column to anything you like, but the actual type of data that is stored by the column will NOT change. Click OK on the Format Gantt form, and notice the modifications we have just made to the active window. Adjust the position of the pane divider, or scroll the Spreadsheet Area as appropriate to bring the Task Type column into view.

As mentioned above, we have only been modifying a view of the data we have NOT deleted or modified in any way any of the schedule's task data. In fact, it is common to have several different views of the project data -- say one for adding tasks, one for updating tasks, and one or more just for printing.

Double-click on the upper half of the time scale. The Format Gantt form will automatically come up, this time with the Time Scale layer of the form available for editing. Some of the most common adjustments made to this form include:

Data Section: 'Display' is set to 'Task Bars' or 'Spreadsheet Only'.

Task Bar Labels Section: Select Task Name to appear next to each task bar.

Display Options: Vertical and Horizontal Grids.
